Summary:
The ETL Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining all ETL tasks. The position requires expertise in Data Integration and ETL methodologies, database design, and database development.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Analyzes and revises data and information centric initiatives including database structure, ETL processes, and external data interfaces.
• Develop and maintain ETL maps based on the design documentation provided.
• Develop and maintain Workflows based on the design documentation provided.
• Develop Program Units (such as Stored Procedures, Packages) required for the ETL process.
• Interact with the other departments to understand and identify data needs and requirements and work with other members of the IT organization to deliver ETL solution to address those needs.
• Interact with the Designer and/or the Team Leader to understand the documentation and training requirements needed to efficiently utilize the ETL infrastructure including the development and maintenance of an enterprise metadata repository.
• Provide third-level support of production Data Integration environments.
• Monitor performance of all Data Integration systems; provide ongoing performance tuning, review logs, clean temp files and all other administrative issues required to ensure applications and databases are performing efficiently.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and / or abilities required:
• Strong expertise in database design and database development.
• Expertise in Data Integration and ETL methodologies and concepts.
• Expertise in any Data Integration tool or ETL tool.
• Experience with development processes and production release management; application and database tuning and interdependencies on operating system configuration is highly desired.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented with an ability to meet critical deadlines.
• Ability to understand, proofread, and edits legal/contractual documentation.
• Exceptional knowledge of using Microsoft Office products especially Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication (oral/written) skills with respect to team members, peers, and staff at all levels of the organization.
• Has ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
• A minimum of two years hands-on experience working with database and ETL technologies and architectures; including both logical and physical designs, data mart creation, ETL tools, loaders and development and reporting tools is required. This experience should include influencing global data architecture directions and defining major data architecture related technology standards.
• A minimum of two years experience writing Oracle stored procedures and packages.
• A minimum of two years hands-on experience in various data definition and modeling projects and demonstrated capabilities in carrying best practices and common objects/components to other projects is required
