The most common "communication" mistake made by candidates when a recruiter calls

Here is a typical scenario from our daily work lives .

You are busy working in your cubicle , which is not such a private one . A recruiter from a consulting firm or a from the hiring organization itself , calls you .

Now, the basic responsibility of checking if the time to have a conversation with you is correct or not is with the recruiter . Having said that if the recruiter misses that out on and you are busy then do not take the conversation further and ask the concerned person to call at a time when you are free. Some candidates do not do this and end up talking only in yes or no .

Sample this

question - hello i am (recruiter name) from (company name ) we are looking for a (job designation) for our company or our client , are you intrested?
answer : yes

question : as per your cv your experience is so many years , is this true?
answer : yes

question : should we take your candidature forward ?
answer : yes

any intelligent recruiter would be a tad irritated with this yes yes kind of reactions . Understand this in a market where your skill set is in need this might work or make no harm to your prospects . Having said that in a market where jobs might be hard to come by or your skill is not so niche its better to remind the other person that the right time to talk could be some other time.

if the other person is sensible , he will like you tad more than other candidates he or she is talking with :-)
