Database & Systems Administrator
Job Purpose
Overall administration planning and supervision of the implementation and maintenance of computerized databases and UNIX O/S and providing assistance in the development of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all databases / OSs in the Bank.
Job Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Supervision, monitoring and administration of Oracle server database activities (should have experience on Oracle RAC 9i or 10g)
• Supervision, monitoring and administration activities of Application Servers such as Websphere, Web logic and activities of Tivoli Storage Manager and MQ Series
• Interfacing with other teams to assist interface development,
• Management creation of DR plans and supervision of DR implementation and testing
• Maintenance of policies, procedures and standards relating to database and systems management ensuring the security and integrity of all databases/non-windows Operating Systems in the bank.
• Optimization and standardization of operation processes, documentation , assistance in evaluation of technology solutions
Education level
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science / MCA from a recognized university.
Professional qualifications
Formal certification on the administration of various RDBMS / OS platforms
Work Experience
Overall 4-5 years hands-on experience with various RDBMS, DW systems and O/Ss
• Oracle RDBMS Administration
• Data Warehouse Systems Administration
Specialist Skills/Competencies Required for the Role
• 4-5 Yrs of DBA experience on Oracle 10g/11g RAC on AIX (or any other UNIX)
• Conversant with Oracle cloning techniques
• Comfortable with Oracle backup and recover tools like RMAN, expdp /impdp
• Experience in Database performance tuning
• Experience in DB upgrade, database patch installation
• Have experience with T24 architecture and its tools (both in application level and in DB level)
• Hands on experience in applying globus patch
• Hands on experience in DL DEFINE and DL RESTORE
• Should be able to trouble shoot the patch failure and liaze with Temenos for further support.
• Experience in Data Warehouse Systems Administration
• Banking domain knowledge
• Comfortable with Disaster Recovery Set up
• Familiarity with international standards such as ITIL/CMMI/ISO
• Excellent Presentation Skill
